Mr. Powers began his transportation career in December 2007 as a vehicle maintenance technician/motor transport operator with the Oklahoma National Guard/Oklahoma Military Department/SMMO and served until December 2013. While serving in the Oklahoma National Guard Mr. Powers roles included: NCOIC Hazardous materials and ordinance transportation, troop movement, supply line infrastructure and operations, vehicle maintenance and recovery operations for the northern Oklahoma region. In January 2014 Mr. Powers hired on as the transportation supervisor with Meridian Technology Center and currently still holds his position there.
Mr. Powers has been active with OAPT since July 2014 when he began attending board meetings as an ex-officio and continued to do so until elected as secretary/treasurer in June 2016.
In 2011 Mr. Powers received the State Military maintenance Operations Safety Award. Mr. Powers attended Oklahoma State University Spears School of Business and graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration in December 2011. Mr. Powers returned to OSU where he attended the Watson School of Management and graduated with his Master of Business Administration in May 2016.
When Mr. Powers was asked how OAPT has benefited his school he stated, “OAPT has provided resources and training to and through Meridian Technology Center as well as the 10 public sending schools and multiple private schools and daycare facilities in our district. The annual conference as well as OAPT's ability to provide contacts for certified trainers as well as references of quality vendors is a valuable asset to Meridian Technology Center and the district it serves. These resources allow Meridian Technology Center to accomplish its mission of Educate. Enrich lives. Secure economic futures.”
