Who I am
Meet Mr. Jay Hunt, OAPT's Southwest Area Director! Mr. Hunt has been working in public school transportation for Lawton Public Schools since September of 2018. After growing up and graduating from Lawton High School in 1996, Mr. Hunt attended Cameraon University where he completed his undergraduate degree in physical education in December of 2000.
Mr. Hunt began his career serving as a Civil Service Employee for the United States Government for 17 years. During his tenure as a civil service employee, Mr. Hunt served as a recreation specialist at Treasure Lake Job Corps, and the Youth and Fitness Director for the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Division at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Mr. Hunt acquired his CDL in 2002 and has over 22 years of experience driving buses.
Mr. Hunt joined LPS as a Bus Driver and Bus Monitor Supervisor. In July of 2020, Mr. Hunt was hired as the Director of Transportation for Lawton Public Schools and has been serving in that role since.
Mr. Hunt has been married to his wife, Melissa, for 21 years and is the father of three children with his oldest sophomore at the University of Oklahoma, his middle child is a sophomore in high school, and his youngest is a 3rd grader. Mr. Hunt enjoys spending time at home with his family and swimming during the summer with his family. Mr. Hunt also enjoys spending time with his friends and has a knack for preparing bar-b-que on his smoker to share with all he can.
